CHAMP Goal:
To combine: 1) population-based data, 2) qualitative assessment of the built/natural environment and 3) community input about health at the neighborhood level in order to better understand the multiple determinants of health and to address both the social and environmental causes of health disparities.
CHAMP Statement:
The Community Health Assessment Mapping Partnership is a transdisciplinary group that will integrate multiple methods to collect and track data to create an interactive community health map. CHAMP will develop a model that will translate findings back to practitioners, researchers, policy makers and communities.

This may be our weakness. I think we have to go beyond gaining an understanding and demonstrate how we'd really USE it in real life.
Of course, my vote is always for using what we learn to transform outreach strategies and PH practice, so that it meets the needs and realities of the clients we're trying to serve. I also think we can use what we learn to reallly engage communities with meaning and relevency.
We can also use what we learn to catalyze improvements to the built environment, and we canuse this methodology to see health issues within different contexts, and always within the epidemiological framework of distribution. This allows us to really look at health issues with depth, and to educate policy makers and community members using an engaging format that can be tailored to their needs, interests and capacities.

I agree with Pam. Let's add language about "developing, implementing and evaluating interventions." These could be at any geographic scale as well as aimed at policy.
